Job summary

Meijer is offering a Store Analytics Internship designed for college students to gain hands-on retail analytics experience. You will work with the Store Analytics team to drive productivity and operational improvement through data, analytics, and reporting.

Intern duties include day-to-day review, ad hoc reporting, and collaboration with IT to update reporting. Opportunities to interact with senior leaders are part of the program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Math, Statistics, CS, Data Science or related field; 3.0+ GPA preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
• Working knowledge of ETL, Python, Databricks, SQL, Alteryx, Power BI or similar programming skills.
• Problem solving - probes sources for answers and interprets data.
• Active curiosity - enjoys gathering and digging into data to identify opportunities and risks.
• Customer focus - dedicated to meeting internal and external customer expectations.
• Relationship skills - builds positive working relationships with stakeholders.
• Communication skills - conveys information clearly in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

• Assist in driving store productivity and operational improvement through data analytics and reporting.
• Enhance the store operations reporting strategy with day-to-day review and ad hoc report creation; partner with IT for updates.
• Apply analytical techniques, tools, and scorecards to drive business results.
• Measure performance, communicate results, and provide recommendations for optimization.
• Explore data across Store Operations to solve business problems and identify opportunities.

What you will be doing as Store Analytics Intern:

The Meijer Store Analytics Internship Program will provide college students with a well-rounded retail educational experience and assist them in developing professional skillsets. Interns will work with the Store Analytics team to drive store productivity and operational improvement through data, analytics, and reporting. They will assist in enhancing the store operations reporting strategy including day to day review, ad hoc report creation and partnering with IT for the creation and updating of reporting.

At the end of the Store Analytics Internship students will be able to:

• Implement analytical techniques, tools, and scorecards to drive business results and ensure fact-based analytics are utilized when making business decisions
• Implement advanced analytic techniques to measure the performance, effectively communicate the results, and provide recommendations for further optimization
• Apply advanced quantitative methods, data mining, modeling, and analytical tools to solve complex business problems across Store Operations

The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:

• Store Support
• Labor Analytics
• Information Technology

Qualifications:

• Progress toward a bachelor's or advanced degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field; 3.0+ GPA preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and other office products
• Working knowledge of ETL, Python, Databricks, SQL, Alteryx, Power BI or similar programing skills
• Problem Solving - Probes all fruitful sources for answers, and looks beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data
• Active curiosity - Must enjoy gathering and digging deeply into data to identify opportunities and risks
• Customer Focus - Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers
