Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This role supports the Medical Oncology and Hematology Departments at our location in San Antonio, Texas (18707 Hardy Oak Suite 320). Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with no weekends or major holidays.

The position level (1, 2, or Sr) depends on candidate experience.

Role Responsibilities

Under supervision, assist physicians and clinicians with patient care, promote efficient patient flow, and perform clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining schedules. Support adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Key Duties
  • Escort patients within the clinic.
  • Record vital signs and patient data prior to visits.
  • Prepare exam/treatment rooms and stock supplies.
  • Assist with exams and procedures.
  • Administer injections as delegated.
  • Maintain disinfection protocols.
  • Handle patient calls and prescriptions.
  • Notify physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows.
  • Perform administrative duties like filing and chart prep.
  • Enter orders under supervision if needed.
Qualifications

Depending on level:

  • Level 1: High school diploma, 0-3 years experience, BCLS certification within 3 months, Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Level 2: At least 3 years experience, phlebotomy experience preferred, CMA preferred.
  • Senior Level: At least 5 years experience, current CPR certification required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Requires physical activity including lifting up to 40 lbs, standing, walking, and manual dexterity. The environment includes exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards typical of an oncology/hematology clinic. Accommodations can be made for disabilities.
