Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Garment Stockroom Operations
- Coordinate daily stockroom workflow and adjust priorities based on production schedules, customer needs, and urgent requests.
- Receive, organize, pull, and stage new and used garments for new accounts, wearer additions, size changes, replacements, and other requests.
- Prepare garments for required production steps, including emblem application, alterations, barcoding, identification, and route assignment, and verify the work for accuracy.
- Monitor open requests, shortages, and backlogs; communicate delays, resolve problems, and keep garments moving to the correct department, account, or route.
- Maintain an organized stockroom by style, size, and other identifying information.
Team Coordination
- Assign daily work based on staffing, workload, employee abilities, and production priorities.
- Give employees clear instructions and expectations, monitor progress, and adjust assignments when needs change.
- Train and coach employees on garment procedures, quality requirements, standard work, and department expectations.
- Provide hands-on help when needed and communicate staffing, training, performance, or workflow concerns to leadership.
- Promote teamwork within the stockroom, balance speed with efficiency, and maintain clear communication with other departments about garment needs and production status.
Safety and 6S Leadership
- Lead the stockroom's 6S program: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety.
- Maintain safe, clean, organized, and clearly labeled work areas with defined locations and visual controls for garments, equipment, carts, and work-in-process.
- Reinforce company safety rules, PPE requirements, proper lifting, material-handling practices, and clear access to aisles, exits, and emergency equipment.
- Conduct routine safety and 6S reviews, document concerns, assign corrective actions, and follow through until issues are resolved.
- Involve employees in maintaining standards, identifying hazards, and sustaining department improvements.
Efficiency and Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve garment flow, productivity, accuracy, ergonomics, and use of available space.
- Lead or support projects that reduce unnecessary movement, handling, searching, waiting, rework, and backlogs.
- Evaluate layouts, workstations, storage methods, and work processes, then help test practical improvements.
- Create or update standard work, train employees on approved changes, and verify that new procedures are followed.
- Track project actions and results, communicate progress, and confirm that completed improvements are effective and sustained.
- Participate in production meetings and communicate stockroom concerns, needs, and progress.
Documentation and Reporting
- Keep production, inventory, order, transfer, shortage, and completed work records accurate and current.
- Update required production systems, spreadsheets, and tracking tools.
- Track assigned measures such as productivity, backlog, order accuracy, quality, and safety and 6S results.
- Complete reports, project updates, and corrective‑action documentation accurately and on time.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; previous industrial laundry, garment, stockroom, distribution, or production experience is preferred.
- Experience coordinating workflow, guiding employees, or providing team direction is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with email, Microsoft Office applications, and production or inventory systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills, with close attention to detail.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work independently, manage changing priorities, and contribute to the production team; sewing or garment‑repair experience is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive garment-handling tasks.
- Lift and carry garment bundles and other materials, using assistance or appropriate equipment for heavier items.
- Move carts, garment racks, bins, and other production materials safely.
- Work in the heat, humidity, noise, and other conditions commonly found in an industrial laundry plant.
Performance Expectations
- Garment requests are completed accurately and on time, with shortages and delays communicated early.
- Garments are prepared correctly, meet quality requirements, and move efficiently through the required production steps.
- Employees understand daily priorities and consistently follow standard work, quality, safety, and 6S expectations.
- Backlogs, rework, lost garments, unnecessary handling, and order errors are reduced through effective coordination and improvement work.
- The coordinator communicates effectively across departments and demonstrates the teamwork, respect, accountability, and support expected of the Bay Towel family.
