Job summary

Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company is seeking a Merchandiser Lead to support the Merchandising Supervisor by coaching and training staff. The role involves scheduling, account merchandising, and hands-on leadership in retail environments.

You will train teams, supervise field activities, and ensure safe practices while covering routes and assisting with daily merchandising operations. This is a full-time hourly role with variable hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of one year of work experience in grocery, retail, warehouse or related field.
• Leadership or merchandising experience preferred.
• Experience with minimal supervision.
• Pallet jacks and high loader lifts preferred; PIT certification on hire required.
• Basic computer and mobile device skills.

Responsibilities

• Trains new and existing merchandisers in standard merchandising activities and onboarding programs.
• Serves as the point of contact for Merchandising Supervisor on their days off; handles calls and schedule changes.
• Monitors daily merchandising activities in the field using an iPad.
• Conducts weekly store audits and check-ins with merchandisers.
• Covers open merchandiser routes and fulfills daily activities.
• Ensure safe working techniques and proper equipment use; report unsafe conditions.

Days/Hours of Work: Fri-Tues/ Wed/Thur off; 5 am start time.

Job Summary

The Merchandiser Lead works with the Merchandising Supervisor to assist in the development of the merchandising staff by providing training and coaching. The Merchandiser Lead will be scheduled to merchandise accounts as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Trains new and existing merchandisers in standard merchandising activities and procedures. Conducts onboarding training with new hires and any retraining programs, as necessary. Conducts capability-building sessions and provides performance feedback to merchandisers.
• Serves as the point of contact for Merchandising Supervisor on their days off. This includes fielding calls from the merchandising team, schedule changes, and handling customer concerns.
• Monitors daily merchandising activities in Pace while in the field using an iPad.
• Conducts weekly audits in stores and weekly check-ins with merchandisers.
• Covers open merchandiser routes and fulfills daily activities completed by a merchandiser as needed.
• Ensure teammates receive proper safe working techniques in the trade and that they have the proper equipment. Identify and report any unsafe working conditions. Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred and minimum of one year of work experience required.
• Minimum of one year of work experience in grocery, retail, warehouse, manual labor, or related field is required.
• Prior merchandising and leadership experience preferred.
• Experience working with minimal supervision.
• Prior experience using equipment such as pallet jacks and high loader lifts preferred. Ability to obtain PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks) certification upon hire is required.
• Basic computer application and technology skills; knowledge of how to operate a smart phone, iPad and/or laptop.
• Flexibility with work hours; able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays due to customer needs.
• Valid Driver's License, current vehicle liability insurance, driving record within policy guidelines including no major violations within the last three years.

• Typing: Frequently using electronic devices for day-to-day business (email, reports,texting)
• Mobility: Frequent travel throughout customer locations (walking in backrooms, aisles, greeting customers)
• Bending/Squatting: Frequently (looking in racks at all levels, counting cases, checking dates)
• Lifting: Frequent- Lift 40 lbs. or less (full cases of product)
• Pushing/pulling: Frequent use of manual carts
• Driving: Frequenttravel between customer locations
