Job summary

Food Clerk-Stocker

Primary Responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and lead customers to product politely


• Actively stock, merchandise, and correct product

• Ensuring Health and Safety Codes, checking for pricing and expiration, and maintaining an organizational standard area

• Stay up to date and in congruence with Health and Safety standards, as well as holding a working knowledge of cleaning supplies and various chemicals and machines within the department


• The capability to understand merchandising labels, warehouse order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms


• Ability to comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions and descriptions concerning store policy and procedures, and usage of equipment


• To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard immediately. pick up/remove all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customers’ pathway immediately.


• To understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of a baler, case cutter, pallet jack (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack and baler)


• To move damaged/unsalable and \"returnable\" products from shelves to the backroom, sorting the materials for return to the damage reclaim center

Specific Tasks

• Lift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 50 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store


• Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas


• Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations


• Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely


• Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems

Work Environment Note

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from receiving/entrance and exit doors/parking lot areas.
