Food Clerk-Stocker

Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and guide customers politely to products.
2. Stock, merchandise, and correct product displays actively.
3. Build and maintain displays as needed.
4. Maintain standards for perishables and adhere to safety procedures.
5. Transport goods within the department.
6. Ensure health and safety codes, check pricing and expiration dates, and organize the area.
7. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisors and assist other departments when needed.
8. Stay updated on safety standards and understand the use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
9. Understand merchandising labels, order codes, reports, invoices, and forms.
10. Follow store policies, provide clear verbal instructions, and operate equipment safely.
11. Ensure safety for all by practicing store safety rules and reporting hazards.
12. Operate equipment like balers, case cutters, and pallet jacks (must be 18+ for some equipment).
13. Move damaged or unsalable products to the backroom for return or disposal.

Qualifications

1. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
3. Experience in related fields is preferred.

Specific Tasks

1. Lift and move up to 50 lbs.
2. Maintain signage and pricing accuracy.
3. Care for signage, banners, and cleanliness.
4. Respond promptly and politely to questions from customers, coworkers, and vendors.
5. Use store phone and intercom systems properly.

Work Environment

Inside work with transitions of heat, cold, humidity, and dust from various areas. All employees must comply with company policies and laws. Responsibilities and duties may vary.
