Job summary

Graphic Packaging International, a leading paperboard packaging producer, seeks a Material Handler/Jeep Driver to move finished goods within the plant using a forklift, wrap pallets, and load outbound trucks. The role supports finishing and shipping operations to meet customer expectations and company goals.

Candidates should be English-proficient, able to work 8- or 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends, and prepared for overtime.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must speak, read and write in English.
• Must be flexible: able to work other shifts, overtime and Saturdays when needed.
• Must be able to operate forklift.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve loaded pallets from finishing area and transport to shipping area using forklift (approx. 95% forklift time).
• Wrap loaded pallets with plastic wrap using shrink-wrapping machinery.
• Load finished materials onto outbound trucks with forklift.
• Perform daily forklift preventive maintenance checks (oil/water, brakes, etc.).
• Refill propane tanks and follow daily checklists.

JOB SUMMARY:

The person who occupies this position is responsible for transporting materials from finishing department to shipping department and having these materials stretch wrapped. Stock Handlers understand and align business operations and Finishing Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job functions include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Responsible for retrieving loaded pallets of flat cartons from finishing area and transporting them (by use of forklift) to shipping area. Jeep Driver spends approximately 95% of working shift on forklift.
• Responsible for wrapping loaded pallets with plastic wrap: Material Handler places load onto “shrink wrapping” machinery and attaches beginning of wrap to load. Machinery automatically wraps load.
• Responsible for loading finished materials onto outgoing trucks by use of forklift.
• Responsible for performing daily preventive maintenance duties on forklift.
• Material Handler must go through check list (check water and oil level, air blow engine, check brake, etc...) on daily basis. Jeep Driver is also responsible for refilling empty propane tanks.

Schedule Requirements

• Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
• Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities

SAFE QUALITY FOOD RESPONSIBILITES FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:

• Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
• Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
• Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
• Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
• Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
