Job summary

Vfp-Inc is seeking a Purchasing / Inventory Clerk to maintain stock levels and support production materials. You will verify stock, process requisitions, and assist in vendor coordination to expedite deliveries. A background in purchasing with 1–2 years of experience and solid computer skills is required.

You will work closely with warehouse and engineering teams to ensure accurate part numbers and timely replenishments, while adhering to safety and inventory control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support Production materials to match production schedule, backorders, and urgent orders.
• Review warehouse stock for order placement and replacement.
• Verify and count stock in warehouse locations for work orders.
• Support bi-annual inventory activities and discrepancies resolution.
• Process requisitions, compare quantities to inventory levels, and place orders.
• Coordinate with vendors, expediting deliveries and resolving invoicing issues.
• Assist with vendor management inventories and new VMI programs.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping in warehouse and comply with regulations.
• Support Engineering with part number changes, TCNs, and ECN updates.

Job description

Responsible for maintaining and supporting Production functions with materials. Must react to changing production schedule backorders and expedites late deliveries.Reviews stock material in warehouse for order placement/replacement.Verifies and/or counts stock in warehouse locations for work order changes.Performs bi-annual inventory and as needed.Reviews purchase requisitions from the stockroom and verifies quantity listed compared to current inventory levels.Responsible for placing indirect orders for maintenance, service calls, and construction-in-progress orders for plant upgrades.Follows up on back orders, expedites delivery and approves arrangements for delivery and notifies the appropriate department.Evaluates vendor performance and utilizes selection of different vendor sources.Receives shortage lists and updates with all pertinent information, delivery date expected, purchase order number, and vendor reference and distributes to specified departments.Searches for alternate vendors during shortages or stockouts.Prints and reviews open orders, send copy to vendors for their review when necessary.Prints and reviews open orders and send updated copy to vendor for expediting.Meets with vendors, customers, and sales representatives.Assists electrical and finishing departments in locating specified material quickly.Reviews with Engineering current changes on part numbers, TCN, and ECN updates. Resolves discrepancies and initiates approval for substitute items.Requests MSDS forms from all vendors concerning hazardous material on purchase requisitions and sends to Safety Officer.Sets up credit account with new vendors.Works with Accounting to resolve invoicing discrepancies.Assists the warehouse in setting up tag systems for stocked items and maintaining pull tag systems.Assists with vendor managed inventories and with setup of new VMI programs for stocked materials.Maintains good housekeeping practices with an emphasis on safety regulations.Performs other duties as assigned or required by management.Education High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Experience 1 - 2 years in purchasing and supply chain Certificates, Licenses or Registrations Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to our company insurance policy Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of algebra, geometry and mathematical formulasMust have excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office applications) and other applicable inventory and payroll systemsStrong analytical and decision-making skills.
