Job summary

WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital is seeking a dedicated environmental services worker to maintain cleanliness across patient rooms, exam rooms, and public areas. You will restock supplies, remake beds after discharge, and report any maintenance issues to the supervisor.

The role requires physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and the ability to operate cleaning equipment while adhering to safety and sanitation regulations. Schedule typically includes full-time hours in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending.
• Must meet Heavy Duty Standard as required by Department of Labor.
• Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and ensures that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair; report problems to the supervisor.
• Cleans all assigned areas, including patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, OR rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
• Removes trash from all assigned areas.
• Replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
• Makes beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on‑call rooms as assigned.
• Maintains assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Moves equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
• Follows all safety and sanitation regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must have physical ability to perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, reaching and bending and operating floor equipment such as vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, buffers, etc.
• Must meet Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard.
• Capable of wearing appropriate PPE for an extended period of time

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals.

• Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
• Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
• Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
