Job summary

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to support STI testing and molecular diagnostics. You will process specimens, perform tests, and report results in the LIS, contributing to accurate, timely patient care in a compliant lab.

You will maintain quality control, perform instrument maintenance, monitor inventories, and collaborate with lab leadership and colleagues across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related science with 1 year of clinical lab experience.
• At least one year of laboratory experience in a clinical or diagnostic setting.
• Ability to follow SOPs and perform laboratory testing accurately.
• Knowledge of specimen processing, quality control, and safety procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
• Preferred: molecular diagnostic testing and Panther system experience; ASCP certification; CLIA-regulated lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine STI testing using molecular diagnostics and verify results.
• Receive, verify, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing.
• Conduct testing per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Review and report results in the LIS accurately and promptly.
• Perform daily quality control and evaluate results before reporting.
• Maintain instrument maintenance, QC, and troubleshooting.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate with leadership for supplies.
• Uphold safety procedures and a clean, compliant laboratory environment.
