Position Overview
As a member of the Donor Marketing and Engagement (DME) team, the Stewardship Specialist, Planned Giving will serve as an embedded partner on the Planned Giving team, focusing on stewardship strategies for the planned giving donor constituency known as The Evergreen Council (TEC). The role involves designing, coordinating, and executing stewardship activities to manage over $415 million in planned gift commitments, including overseeing TEC activities and developing bespoke plans for top donors. Collaboration with fundraisers and the stewardship team is essential to ensure alignment with Earthjustice’s donor stewardship philosophy.

This role can be based in Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; Washington, D.C.; or remotely within the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Planned giving stewardship and engagement (75%)
- Design and implement a comprehensive stewardship program for TEC members, including communications, personal touchpoints, and regional events.
- Partner with subject matter experts to plan and execute stewardship tactics such as signature events and virtual townhalls.
- Create bespoke stewardship plans for top donors in collaboration with Gift Officers.
- Provide excellent customer service to TEC donors before, during, and after events.
- Coordinate with gift officers to support stewardship efforts within their portfolios.
- Maintain protocols for recording and tracking TEC activities.
- Collaborate with the Planned Giving Marketing Specialist on branding and communication strategies.
- Stewardship coordination and learning (25%)
- Promote Earthjustice’s donor stewardship philosophy across teams.
- Develop and evaluate stewardship metrics to measure success.
- Gather and share feedback to improve stewardship activities and ensure equitable engagement.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through educational opportunities and networking.
- Work with leadership to establish a sustainable meeting and planning schedule.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in donor relations, specifically with planned giving stewardship or fundraising.
- Proficiency with fundraising databases required.
- Experience with campaign stewardship preferred.
- Basic graphic design skills are a plus.
- Understanding of planned giving vehicles and stewardship nuances, with a desire to continually learn.
- Self-motivated with excellent project coordination skills, able to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences effectively.
- Enthusiasm for Earthjustice’s mission, with the ability to convey passion authentically.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
