Wellington Management Company LLP seeks a Stewardship Analyst to join the Stewardship & Sustainable Investment team, within the COO Group, supporting engagement, proxy voting, and stewardship operations to deliver long-term value for clients.

The role requires collaboration with investment professionals, rigorous analysis of governance and sustainability disclosures, and contribution to research, reporting, and process improvements during peak proxy seasons.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law, Sustainability, Political Science, Data Analytics or related discipline.
• Approximately 3–6 years of relevant experience in investment stewardship, governance, or research-oriented roles.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate disclosures, governance practices, and market context.
• Ability to communicate complex topics clearly, both written and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Support Stewardship Lead in developing and executing engagement priorities.
• Participate in engagements with company management and boards to inform voting decisions.

About this Role

Wellington’s Stewardship & Sustainable Investment team plays a key role in bringing together the firm’s sustainable investment capabilities and stewardship activities, helping to enhance long-term value for clients. The firm is seeking a Stewardship Analyst to join this collaborative team, which sits within the COO Group on the Investment Platform, as Wellington seeks to scale its capabilities across engagement, proxy voting, and stewardship operations. This role will support Wellington’s stewardship activities by partnering with investment professionals to execute company engagements, inform proxy voting decisions, and advance research on governance and other financially material sustainability issues. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative and establish credibility across multiple teams to contribute to engagement prioritization, proxy analysis, stewardship reporting, and the scaling of stewardship processes to deliver strong long-term outcomes for clients. The position requires a strong focus on analytical rigor, stewardship expertise, and operational excellence. The Stewardship Analyst will work across engagement, proxy voting, and operations functions to ensure Wellington’s stewardship priorities are effectively executed and measured.

Responsibilities

• Support the Stewardship Lead in the development and execution of thematic and issuer‑specific engagement priorities
• Participate in and lead, where appropriate, engagements with company management and board directors in support of stewardship priorities and to inform proxy voting decisions
• Identify and communicate key insights, company responsiveness, and engagement outcomes
• Contribute to issuer‑specific research, stewardship case studies, and internal knowledge sharing that support the broader investment dialogue
• Analyze proxy ballot items across global markets and formulate voting recommendations consistent with Wellington’s Proxy Voting Guidelines
• Incorporate company engagement history, investment research, governance practices, and market context into voting analysis, feeding back into development of voting guidelines
• Support proxy voting operations, especially during peak proxy season, while helping improve the efficiency and quality of voting workflows
• Monitor regulatory developments and evolving governance practices across global markets

  Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law, Sustainability, Political Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant experience in investment stewardship, corporate governance, investment research, responsible investing, sustainability, consulting, investor relations, or another research‑oriented role
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate company disclosures, governance practices, proxy materials, sustainability reporting, and market context to form thoughtful, evidence‑based recommendations
  • Comfort working with qualitative and quantitative information and identifying the most decision‑useful insights
  • Strong interest in corporate governance, stewardship, sustainability, and long‑term investing
  • Ability to connect stewardship activities to investment relevance, client outcomes, and financially material issues
  • Sound judgment in assessing company practices and engagement opportunities
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong relationship‑building skills, humility, and collaborative orientation
  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities, particularly during peak proxy season
  • Proactive approach to improving workflows and maintaining high‑quality stewardship data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with data tools such as Power BI, Python, or other AI‑enabled workflows is a plus
