The West Virginia Land Trust (WVLT) AmeriCorps Program is dedicated to expanding conservation education and fostering a greater appreciation for the benefits of outdoor engagement. Through partnerships and outreach, WVLT seeks to protect West Virginia’s natural lands, promote environmental stewardship, and enhance community well-being by connecting people with nature. The program values sustainability, collaboration, and public engagement to build a strong conservation movement across the state.
This AmeriCorps Position will support WVLT’s efforts by developing and implementing a health-focused outreach strategy. The member will design marketing campaigns, build volunteer engagement systems, and coordinate conservation-related events, strengthening WVLT’s capacity to reach diverse communities. By enhancing outreach and organizational efficiency, the member will play a key role in expanding the impact of WVLT’s conservation initiatives.
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will build capacity and develop sustainable solutions to alleviate poverty in underserved communities.
Description of Duties:
The West Virginia Land Trust (WVLT) is expanding its conservation education efforts to highlight the health benefits of spending time in nature. The VISTA member will support these efforts by collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement a health-focused outreach strategy.
Specific duties include:
The member should have strong communication skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Some evening and weekend activities, as well as occasional overnight travel, may be required.

As an AmeriCorps VISTA member, performance will be evaluated on whether the member has completed their required year of service; the member has satisfactorily completed assignments; and if the member has met other performance criteria that were clearly communicated at the beginning of the term of service.
Reporting requirements include, but are not limited to, bi-weekly timesheets, accomplishment tracking, and quarterly reporting.
