Job summary

Loews New Orleans Hotel invites applications for a hands-on Stewarding Supervisor who will lead the stewarding team, manage dishwashing operations, and ensure cleanliness, organization and safety across back-of-house areas.

You will oversee equipment, inventories, and sanitation to support culinary and F&B teams in delivering exceptional guest experiences at our Warehouse District property.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 2–3 years of experience in a mid-volume stewarding operation in an upscale hotel/restaurant preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy items, stand long periods, and operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the stewarding team, assigning tasks and covering shifts.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and feedback to maintain service excellence.
  • Oversee cleaning/sanitation of dishes and kitchen equipment to Loews standards.
  • Ensure dishwashing machines and equipment operate efficiently; report malfunctions.
  • Coordinate cleaning of kitchen areas and back-of-house spaces for a spotless environment.
  • Enforce safety procedures and hygiene protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Monitor health department regulations and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist inventory management for cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure safe handling/storage of cleaning chemicals per safety standards.
  • Collaborate with banquet/culinary teams to ensure equipment readiness for events.
  • Support event setup/breakdown with banquet and culinary teams.
  • Maintain teamwork and a positive work environment; manage daily operations in the absence of leadership.
  • Attend BEO meetings and prepare setups according to standards.
  • Regular attendance and willingness to work varying schedules.

What We're Looking For:

A hands-on and detail-oriented Stewarding Supervisor who will lead the stewarding team and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety across all back-of-house areas. In this role, you'll oversee dishwashing operations, manage equipment and supply inventories, and maintain compliance with sanitation and safety regulations. Your leadership will keep kitchen operations running smoothly, supporting culinary and food & beverage teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and supervise the stewarding team, assigning tasks and ensuring all responsibilities are covered throughout each shift
  • Monitor team performance, providing hands-on training, coaching, and feedback to maintain consistent service excellence
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and kitchen equipment, ensuring everything meets Loews' high standards
  • Ensure dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment operate efficiently, reporting malfunctions promptly for repair
  • Coordinate the cleaning of kitchen areas, storage spaces, and back-of-house areas to maintain a spotless and organized environment
  • Enforce proper safety procedures and hygiene protocols to prevent accidents and contamination
  • Monitor compliance with health department regulations, including food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Assist with inventory management for cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring the department is well-stocked and organized
  • Oversee safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety standards
  • Collaborate with banquet, culinary, and outlet teams to ensure all necessary equipment such as trays, glassware, and cutlery is available and prepared for events
  • Support event setup and breakdown, coordinating with banquet and culinary teams for seamless execution
  • Manage the return and proper storage of equipment after events, ensuring accountability and organization
  • Foster teamwork and maintain a positive work environment that encourages productivity and cooperation
  • Step in to manage day-to-day floor operations in the absence of the Executive Steward or Assistant Executive Steward
  • Attend Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings as needed and prepare setups according to established standards
  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs
  • Required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications Include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a mid-volume stewarding operation within an upscale hotel or restaurant preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting heavy items, standing for long periods, and operating cleaning equipment
