Job Description

Under minimal supervision, the Steward/ess provides direct meal service to patients in a friendly and efficient manner. Responsibilities include obtaining patient feedback, resolving issues promptly, and collaborating with leadership to improve food and nutrition services, all while respecting the cultural, age, developmental, and safety needs of patients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver food items/trays/nourishments accurately to patients using two identifiers.
  • Collect soiled trays and gather patient feedback on food and service.
  • Maintain proper cleaning and dishwashing procedures for service ware.
  • Assemble trays according to prescribed diets promptly.
  • Prepare food and nourishment items following standard production orders.
  • Prepare meals and beverages adhering to standard procedures.
  • Follow storage guidelines for food and supplies.
  • Operate, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment properly.
  • Adhere to policies and adapt to unit changes as needed.
  • Escalate issues appropriately to supervisors.
  • Perform all duties safely and conscientiously.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in food service or related fields preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers is required.
  • Availability to work evening shifts.
