Job summary

Ema - Austin, a Mediterranean restaurant open at The Domain NORTHSIDE in Austin, TX, is hiring Restaurant Receivers. You will read and verify purchase orders and invoices, ensure product quality, and rotate stock.

You may assist with prep cook or dishwasher duties and help keep back-of-house areas clean and organized. We offer restaurant discounts, health and wellness benefits, vacation pay for qualifying employees, and enrollment in a 401(k).

• Must be able to read and interpret purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Receive restaurant deliveries and verify accuracy of orders and invoices.
• Maintain product quality and safety standards.
• Store deliveries using standard zoning procedures and rotate perishable items (FIFO).
• Assist with prep cook and/or dishwasher duties as directed.
• Keep storage areas clean and organized.

Restaurant Receivers are responsible for receiving and storing all restaurant deliveries ensuring product accuracy, quality, zoning and rotation. Also responsible for assisting in the general cleanliness of the storage areas and back of the house. Assists with Prep Cook and/or Dishwasher duties as directed.

Essential Functions

• Receive restaurant deliveries, accurately reading purchase orders and product invoices checking for accuracy, quality and safety
• Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
• Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
• Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
• Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
• Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
• Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Maintain product quality and safety standards
• Reject any product not meeting quality or safety standards, making note on the invoice
• Accurately use and read a thermometer and scale
• Store deliveries following standard zoning procedures, rotating all perishable items using the “first in, first out” storage method
• Inventory supplies and communicate needs to Management
• Organize and clean cabinets, coolers and other storage areas in and around the cellar; assist in maintaining general cleanliness of the back of the house
• Proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment
• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
• Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Get along well with others and be a team player
• Other duties will be assigned as needed
