Qualifications

• Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification required by first day of work (Utah/Idaho).
• ServSafe certification within 90 days of hire date if not current.
• Demonstrated ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and work independently as well as part of a team.
• Reads color coded labels and chemicals and follows written/verbal directions.
• Ability to operate housekeeping equipment and dish machine (preferred).

Job Description:

This position is responsible to lead the Nutrition Steward team when other leadership is not on-site while fulfilling the role of the Nutrition Steward. Resolves immediate issues regarding sanitizing procedures, workflow and rearranging staffing as needed. Escalates to manager as appropriate. This position is responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks to maintain the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital, Health Department and Joint Commission standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
• Occasional interaction with customers that requiresemployee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
• Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work.
• Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work around dish machines and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals.
