Job summary

Perseid Restaurant, located inside Hotel Saint Augustine, is seeking a Steward to join the team and support the Food & Beverage and Culinary operations. You will help maintain cleanliness, assist in dining room service, and support deliveries and daily workflows in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires at least six months of hospitality or service experience, flexibility for afternoons/evenings, and ability to read and understand safety instructions.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry.
• Ability to work primarily afternoon and evenings, with a flexibility to work mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or guests

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction
• Bus dining room and patio. Keep tables clear of dishes and food remnants
• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand
• Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas
• Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
• Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars
• Sweep and scrub floors
• Clean garbage cans with water or steamSort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
• Assist in unloading deliveries (food and supplies)
• Ensure open lines of communication via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the restaurant are met
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
• Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
• Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
• Attend relevant meetings
