Job Title: Steward
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass, and silver, and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation. They assist kitchen staff in maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, clean equipment and utensils, and help with food storage and rotation. Both AM and PM shifts are available.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and orderliness in kitchens, back dock, dumpster, and utility areas.
- Perform heavy-duty cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and other kitchen equipment.
- Wash pots, pans, and utensils following proper procedures for cleanliness and sanitation.
- Sweep, mop, and wash floors in all food and beverage areas, including kitchens, restaurants, and dock areas.
- Inform management of shortages of equipment and supplies.
- Operate dishwashing equipment to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitation.
- Return all clean china, glass, and silverware to proper storage, taking care to minimize breakage.
- Handle chemicals safely and properly.
- Report faulty equipment immediately to management.
- Follow procedures for breakdown, cleaning, and reassembly of kitchen equipment.
- Adhere to all sanitation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in a hotel or related field is a plus.
- Flexibility to work long hours when required.
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
- Ability to stand throughout the shift.
- Ability to withstand temperature variations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.
