Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a Kitchen Steward for our Washington, DC property. You will clean all kitchen areas, cookware, cutlery, and utensils, while following OSHA regulations and maintaining a sanitary environment. Responsibilities include ware washing, hand washing, equipment maintenance, and floor care.

Responsibilities

• Clean kitchen including carts, walk-ins, and loading dock area.
• Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment properly.
• Wash pots, pans, and equipment by hand when required.
• Perform daily kitchen maintenance.
• Polish silver and copper chafing dishes; burnish as needed.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floor to maintain sanitation.

About the Steward position

As Steward, this position is responsible forcleaning the entire kitchen area, cook ware, plates, glass ware, silverware and cutlery.

A little taste of your day-to-day

• Use the correct cleaning chemicals for designated items, according to OSHA regulations.
• Set up and organize work station with designated supplies and equipment; report shortages to supervisor. Replenish as needed throughout the shift.
• Clean the total kitchen including food service carts, walk-in coolers, freezers, service elevators, and loading dock area.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Perform ware-washing tasks on soiled dishes from the restaurant, banquet, and room service outlets, through the use of the dish machine.
• Perform the tasks required for washing pots, pans, and other equipment which must be washed by hand in the pot sinks.
• Perform routine daily maintenance of kitchen.
• Clean and polish silver and copper chafing dishes, trays, etc.; burnish all silver as necessary.
• Sweep and mop the kitchen floor as necessary to maintain a sanitary environment for food preparation.

What we need from you

• Minimum formal education of some high school and a minimum one year job-related experience preferred.
• Must be able to abide by the company appearance standards and compliance with the designated uniform.
• Dedicated to exceeding service standards and providing services and standards to the highest caliber.
• Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $28.00. This rate is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Washington, DC. This is the starting rate we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may pay more or less than the posted rate, and the rate may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
