Job summary

La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club invites you to join a dedicated kitchen team. As a dishwasher, you’ll help maintain clean, safe cooking areas, support cooks, and ensure the restaurant runs smoothly while you learn and grow in a coastal luxury setting.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain a San Diego County Food Handlers and Responsible Beverage Service certification.

Responsibilities

• Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine.
• Washes pots, pans, and trays.
• Sweeps, mops, and sanitizes kitchen floors.
• Cleans floor mats, walls, ceiling, and air vents.
• Washes worktables, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
• Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers.
• Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans and maintains designated trash receptacle area.
• Sorts silverware, chemical dip, and soiled flatware.
• Polishes silver using burnishing machine tumbler.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Maintains and properly stores chemicals in designated area.
• Washes and peels vegetables.
• Attends regularly scheduled kitchen meetings.
• Stores food items in their proper location (e.g., freezer, walk‑ins, dry storage).
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Schedule

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand (i.e. holidays, weekends, and high‑volume business periods). In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
