Job summary

Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA is seeking a Full-Time Steward to operate the dishwashing area, clean and store utensils, and maintain a clean kitchen environment. You will transport waste, assist other stations, and follow established schedules to ensure efficiency and safety in a fast-paced setting.

The role includes washing dishes, sorting silverware, and assisting in banquet functions, with opportunities to train new staff and support department goals while maintaining regular attendance

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
• Able to stand for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machine and sort/clean dishes.
• Transport garbage to dumpsters and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist at other stations and follow cleaning schedules.
• Clean and polish silverware, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
• Set up workstations and report shortages to supervisor.
• Train new employees and ensure health codes compliance.
• Banquet setup and plating support when needed.

Summary Operate dishwashing machine. Place clean dishes in assigned storage location. Clean designated equipment. Dispose of kitchen substances (such as grease)and kitchen chemicals properly. Transport garbage containers to dump sites while adhering to recycling regulations, empty and clean trash containers. Clean and organize associated work area and kitchen equipment according to procedures to maximize efficiency. Wash walls, ceilings, baseboards, floor drains, hand sinks, tables and cutting boards. Duties/Responsibilities

• Transport garbage from all kitchen areas to trash receptacle and dumpster.
• Assist at other stations when directed or assigned.
• Follow all cleaning schedules in designated areas (kitchen storerooms, walk-ins, and other designated assigned areas).
• Clean and polish silver, flatware and brass in all areas as needed.
• Machine-wash and sort all dishes and flatware as it is brought to the dish area.
• Wash, sort, and store pots and pans in their designated location on proper racks.
• Breakdown and clean dishwashing machine and work areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of supply / storage closets; remove trash, wipe down shelves / counters; clean floors; remove items which do not belong and place in correct areas.
• Set up and organize work station with designated supplies and equipment; report shortages to supervisor. Replenish as needed throughout shift.
• Report any damages, maintenance problems or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Work steadily an accurately, paying attention to detail in accordance with Health Department codes and departmental policies to remain consistently in compliance.
• Set up designated wares for banquet functions and transport to function area.
• Assist Banquet Chef with plating up hot banquet meals.
• Stack plated meals in hot carts and transport to banquet function area.
• Wash all banquet kitchen, ensuring that all items are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.

Education / Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age, or older.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Have working knowledge of the predominant language(s) of our guests.
• Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
• Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
• Honesty and Integrity.
• Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.

Certificates, licenses and registration

• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
• Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
• Required to have a valid Riverside County Food Handler Card and / or ServSafe Certification, or obtain same upon hiring.
