Job summary

The Admiral Hotel, part of Avocet Hospitality Group, is seeking a reliable, hardworking Steward to join our Food & Beverage team in Mobile, AL. This role supports the culinary team by keeping kitchens clean, organized, and running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

You will help with dish operations, basic prep, and sanitation, playing a key behind-the-scenes role that enables excellent guest experiences. We offer a $15.00/hour wage, PTO, health benefits, and opportunities for internal growth.

Responsibilities

• Keep kitchen, dish, and storage areas clean, organized, and sanitary.
• Set up and operate dish machines and sinks.
• Wash, sanitize, sort, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
• Keep floors clean and dry throughout the shift.
• Maintain proper chemical levels and follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.
• Maintain trash and recycling areas and remove waste as needed.
• Keep dry storage areas organized.
• Assist with basic food prep and other kitchen tasks as directed.
• Support the culinary team during busy service periods.
• Follow daily cleaning and sanitation checklists.
• Work safely and follow all company and kitchen procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by culinary leadership

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Previous steward, dishwasher, or kitchen experience preferred
• Positive, dependable, and self-motivated

• Willingness to learn and take direction

The Details

This is an active, hands-on position. You should be comfortable:

• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and reaching
• Working around heat, humidity, water, and kitchen equipment
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling 30+ pounds
• Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen
• Adapting to changing business needs and priorities
