Job summary

The Steward at Hotel Irvine is responsible for promptly sorting and cleaning dishes, glassware, and utensils, while following supervisor instructions to ensure safety. You will coordinate flow of dirty and clean items, maintain a clean work area, and support daily service preparations in a resort setting.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (preferred) and prior kitchen steward experience, with the ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays in a professional, team-based

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Experience working as a kitchen steward, preferably in a resort/hotel environment.
• Knowledge of cleaning detergents, chemicals and washing equipment and the proper safety procedures for their use.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
• Ability to work day, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• The Steward is responsible for promptly and carefully sorting and cleaning dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans and other related items.
• Must follow all instructions from supervisors to ensure safety of themselves and others in the kitchen.
• Coordinates the flow of dirty and clean equipment throughout the day.
• Ensure all outlets are prepared for the day’s service.
• Maintain a safe work environment; keep floors clear and dry, remove obstacles.
• Ensure health department requirements are met; towels, trash, soap, sani-buckets at proper concentrations.
• Maintain a good working relationship with other employees.
• Store items properly at the end of the shift.
• Ensure a clean, neat and organized work area.
• Handle and report any accident immediately, no matter how minor.
• Reflect high standards of hotel/resort in professional conduct.
• Respond properly in any emergency or safety situation.
• Embodiment of mission, vision and values of the hotel daily.
• Perform other tasks or projects as assigned or requested.
