Job Summary

Leading the sterilization of surgical instrumentation for the Orthopedic and Spine surgical sets within the department of Sterile Processing. Reporting to the Ortho Associate, responsibilities include decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, disassembling, packaging, and sterilizing reusable surgical sets; operating sterilization equipment using various methods; monitoring sterilization processes; communicating with vendors, surgeons, circulating nurses, and surgical technicians regarding surgical set readiness; recognizing recurring problems and implementing corrective actions; serving as the contact person for surgical set needs/problems during surgeries; and keeping staff updated on changing technology. Ensuring complete and efficient set turnaround times and trauma readiness for ortho and spine cases are also key duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree and 2 years of relevant sterilization experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as a central service technician or equivalent credential from a nationally accredited organization, or evidence of employment as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for at least one year between January 1, 2011, and January 1, 2015.
  • Within eighteen months of hire, certification as described above is required.
  • Progressive leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience sterilizing Orthopedic and Spine surgical sets is preferred.
Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 11:00 am - 7:30 pm, with weekends and holidays rotating based on department needs.
