Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments. You will ensure timely delivery to procedural areas and uphold safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

The role requires 1 year of sterile processing experience and a high school diploma. Certifications such as CRCST or CSPDT at hire are required (or CST/TSC if applicable). A sign-on bonus is offered for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience with Sterile Processing.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Requires CRCST or CSPDT at hire (exemption for long-time employees).
• Surgical Technologist CST/TSC certifications meet license requirement.

Responsibilities

• Proficiently receives and sorts contaminated instruments and equipment from various departments.
• Disassembles instruments and cleans them using appropriate agents and equipment.
• Inspects cleaned instruments for cleanliness, function and damage.
• Assembles instrument sets according to count sheets and tray lists.
• Wraps or packages instruments and sets for sterilization.
• Monitors sterilization cycles and interprets printouts to verify parameters.
• Follows safety and infection control policies and uses PPE.
• Operates automated washing and decontamination equipment.
• Loads and operates sterilization equipment and troubleshoots minor issues.
