Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification in sterile processing (CRCST or CSPD) or provisional CRCST status required.
• Must complete NY State continuing education credits annually.
• Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles and packages sterile supplies per specifications/manufacturer instructions.
• Uses appropriate sterilization methods for various instrumentation per procedures.
• Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and EO sterilizers, heat sealers and related equipment.
• Follows instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
• Covers and rotates trays and sets per sterile storage guidelines.
• Adheres to safety protocols to prevent injuries and maintains body mechanics protections.
