Job summary

Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA seeks a Central Sterilization Technician to support surgical services. This rural hospital employs 500+ staff and offers competitive wages and benefits.

You will clean, sterilize, and assemble instruments and supplies, with shifts on Mondays and Tuesdays, 6:30am start, 8–12 hour days, and occasional weekend call.

Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospitallocated in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for procedures related to cleaning, sterilizing, and assemble of equipment, supplies and instruments for use in medical and surgical interventions

Requirements

• HS diploma or equivalent required
• One year experience in central sterilization or hospital related field that would provide a background in medical terminology, sterile technique, or applied medical supplies and equipment preferred
• Possess good communication skills and contribute to completing the required work of the team
• Possess good decision-making skills, organizational skills, and able to adapt to change and flexibility
• Detail oriented

Schedule

• 36 hours per pay period
• Shifts primarily on Mondays & Tuesdays
• 6:30am start time (shift length can vary 8-12 hours)
• Ideal candidate would have availability in addition to work in times of planned PTO coverage and last minute needs
• 1 weekend call per 6 weeks when fully staffed
• On-call holiday rotation 1-2 per year
• The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department
