Job summary

Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA is seeking a Central Sterilization Technician to support surgical services. You will be responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling equipment and instruments used in medical procedures, ensuring strict sterility and availability for the OR.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma, up to one year in central sterilization or a hospital setting, and strong communication, organization and adaptability to shift changes, including occasional weekend coverage.

Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospitallocated in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for procedures related to cleaning, sterilizing, and assemble of equipment, supplies and instruments for use in medical and surgical interventions

Requirements:

• HS diploma or equivalent required
• One year experience in central sterilization or hospital related field that would provide a background in medical terminology, sterile technique, or applied medical supplies and equipment preferred
• Possess good communication skills and contribute to completing the required work of the team
• Possess good decision-making skills, organizational skills, and able to adapt to change and flexibility
• Detail oriented

Schedule:

• 36 hours per pay period
• Shifts primarily on Mondays & Tuesdays
• 6:30am start time (shift length can vary 8-12 hours)
• Ideal candidate would have availability in addition to work in times of planned PTO coverage and last minute needs
• 1 weekend call per 6 weeks when fully staffed
• On-call holiday rotation 1-2 per year
• The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department
