Job summary

Gundersen Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician or Sterile Processing Technician Trainee in La Crosse, WI. Join our Central Services to help ensure instruments are safe and ready for patient care. The role offers paid training and a pathway into a healthcare career.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week) with a 6:30 AM–3:00 PM shift, Monday–Friday, plus holiday rotation. Training available for those without experience and opportunities for growth within a respected health

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required or completed sterile processing program.
  • Sterile processing experience is preferred but not required for trainee role.
  • Attention to detail and reliability are essential for maintaining instrument sterility.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and clean medical instruments.
  • Perform sterilization processes in accordance with standards.
  • Assemble and package surgical instruments for use.
  • Manage storage and distribution of supplies and equipment.

What You’ll Need
  • Sterile Processing Tech requirements: High School Diploma or equivalency AND completion of an approved surgical tech or sterile processing tech program OR High School Diploma or equivalency AND 1 or more years of sterile processing experience
  • Sterile Processing Tech Trainee requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a sterile processing cohort and/or sterile processing program within 6 months of hire (we provide the training program)
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Interest in a hands‑on healthcare career
  • Sterile Processing experience preferred
