Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician in Washington, DC to perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of equipment and supplies. You will prepare surgical case carts and ensure proper documentation and quality control for sterility.

The role requires adherence to infection control standards, accurate processing, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy operating environment while communicating effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an understanding of cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and sterile storage.
• Performs decontamination and preparation of surgical case carts for the OR.
• Operates sterilizers, runs biological/chemical tests, and documents results.
• Maintains clean, organized work areas and supports high-volume critical care operations.
• Notifies supervisor of instrument or supply needs and recalls as required.
• Completes annual education and adheres to regulatory protocols.
