Job summary

UNC Lenoir Health Care in Kinston, NC seeks a Per Diem Central Sterile Technician to sterilize instruments used in the operating room, ED, and other departments. You will follow strict cleanliness, prep equipment, and maintain records to support patient care.

Qualifications include a High School graduate; CNA or Surgical Technician preferred. Evening shifts available and onsite work. Training in sterile processing is a plus and there is opportunity to contribute to infection control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CNA or Surgical Technician preferred.
• Basic writing and math skills needed for documentation.
• Good communication abilities and manual dexterity are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of work areas, equipment and instruments.
• Clean work areas and equipment after use; prepare instruments for sterilization.
• Operate equipment used in instrument sterilization and adjust as needed.
• Monitor sterilization equipment daily; record test results and report malfunctions.
• Compile and file information for items received and processed; maintain records.
• Plan and organize daily tasks to meet department deadlines.
• Transport instrument carts to their correct destinations safely.
