STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN NON-CERTIFIED (VARIED)

Responsibilities

Performs the basic activities and related professional services necessary in the care and handling of surgical instruments.

Qualifications

This is a 12-month time-limited position. SPD intern will be trained and educated on the job to care for and reprocess reusable medical equipment and surgical instrumentation. The intern will successfully pass all hospital competencies for the department. Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) is required by the end of 12 months.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: None necessary; completion of formal training in the field preferred. Due to the highly technical nature, especially related to interpretation of manufacturer's Instructions For Use (IFU), all SPD staff must be proficient in spoken and written English.
