UMC Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to organize, clean, sterilize, store, and distribute equipment and instruments in the SPD. Work Sundays to Wednesdays on 10-hour shifts in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities include processing and packaging instruments, loading items for sterilization, tracking equipment, and operating the Detergent Management System. Candidates with SD processing experience and computer skills are preferred.
The Sterile Processing Technician organizes, directs, and performs activities related to cleaning, sterilizing, storing, maintenance and distribution of equipment and instruments in the Sterile Processing Department Sunday-Wednesday 10-hour shifts
High School Diploma or GED
Frequent interaction with various departments throughout the hospital
Work is of heavy demand. Walking and standing most of the time on duty. The technician will occasionally be required to push or pull charts weighting as much as 100 pounds pounds and lifting items as heavy as 50 pounds. Frequent reaching and bending required. Frequent handling of instruments is necessary. Sight, speech and hearing are a must. Days and hours of duty will vary.
The decontamination work is done in an area that is at high risk for exposure to blood born pathogens. Exposure risk to high temperature steam and hydrogen peroxide. This position is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
