Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the Sterile Processing Department. This full-time night shift runs Monday–Friday, 2300–0730, with on-call duties, and a pay range of $22.90–$34.35 per hour.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and CSPDT certification, with at least two years in sterile processing and strong customer service. You will assist the SPD Supervisor and ensure safe, compliant instrument processing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with two years' Sterile Processing experience.
• CSPDT certification required; certification in Sterile Processing Management encouraged within three years of hire.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Works under the direction of the Instrument Processing Supervisor and assists with the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Serves as a departmental resource for SPD and other departments and models excellent customer service. Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in Sterile Processing.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, And/or REGISTRATION

Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required. Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

Essential Functions

• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
• Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
• Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
• Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
• Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
• Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
• Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
