Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is hiring a Sterile Processing Supervisor at the Winston Salem facility. The role leads instrument processing, ensures compliance, and supports SPD operations with strong customer service and collaboration.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with two years of sterile processing experience and CSPDT or equivalent certification; Sterile Processing Management certification is encouraged within three years.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and education across the SPD; act as Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• Lead and direct SPD staff to meet department production requirements.
• Assist with case carts management and communicate issues to the SPD Supervisor.
• Communicate instrument needs with SPD Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and OR Coordinators.
• Ensure all equipment functions properly and report issues to the supervisor.
• Assist in maintenance of departmental compliance logs and policies.
• Support SPD Manager with policy implementation and enforcement.
• Contribute to special projects and interdepartmental committees.
• Follow policies to prevent spread of bloodborne and airborne diseases.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in Sterile Processing.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION

Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required. Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• 1. Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
• 2. Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• 3. Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
• 4. Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
• 5. Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
• 6. Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
• 7. Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• 8. Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
• 9. Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• 10. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Works under the direction of the Instrument Processing Supervisor and assists with the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Serves as a departmental resource for SPD and other departments and models excellent customer service. Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
