Job summary

Advocate Health in North Carolina is seeking a Sterile Processing Supervisor in the Lexington Medical Center - Sterile Processing Services department. The role supports SPD operations, equipment readiness and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED with 2 years SPD experience, CSPDT certification (or equivalent) and potential on-call duties. The posted pay range is $22.90–$34.35 per hour; hours are Monday–Friday 1:00 PM–9:30 PM with on-call.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with 2 years’ experience in Sterile Processing.
  • Certification as CSPDT or other sterile processing certification required.
  • Certification in Sterile Processing Management encouraged within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and educate SPD staff across the sterile processing cycle.
  • Assume Sterile Processing Supervisor responsibilities when assigned.
  • Assist supervisor to meet department production targets by directing SPD employees.
  • Oversee case cart management and communicate issues to the SPD Supervisor.
  • Discuss instrument needs with SPD Supervisor, liaisons, and OR Coordinators.
  • Ensure equipment functions optimally and report issues to SPD Supervisor/department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years’ experience in Sterile Processing.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION

Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required. Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
  • 2. Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
  • 3. Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
  • 4. Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
  • 5. Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
  • 6. Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
  • 7. Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
  • 8. Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
  • 9. Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
  • 10. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to stand for long periods Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and others as needed Ability to order instruments via PeopleSoft
