Job summary

Advocate Health's Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Supervisor. The role requires leadership of the SPD team, ensuring all steps of the sterile processing cycle, instrument handling, and case carts management.

You will supervise SPD staff, communicate with OR Coordinators, and uphold department policies. A CSPDT certification is required and Sterile Processing Management certification is encouraged within three years of hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with two years' sterile processing experience.
  • CSPDT certification or other sterile processing certification required.
  • Sterile Processing Management certification encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide SPD employees through the sterile processing cycle.
  • Occasionally assume Sterile Processing Supervisor role when assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining department production requirements and direct SPD staff.
  • Coordinate case carts management and relay instrument needs to SPD Supervisor/OR Coordinators.
  • Communicate equipment issues to SPD Supervisor/appropriate department.

Pay Range

$20.80 - $31.20

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years' experience in Sterile Processing.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION

Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or other sterile processing certification required. Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees. 2. Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned. 3. Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees. 4. Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor. 5. Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators. 6. Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department. 7. Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs. 8. Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies. 9. Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned. 10. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
