Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network seeks a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) to sterilize, clean, process, assemble and distribute critical medical supplies at the Fayetteville and Goldsboro VA Medical Centers.

Responsibilities include decontamination, sterilization, tray preparation, inventory maintenance and adherence to universal precautions. The role supports patient care and infection prevention within SPS and Nursing Service.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship
• English language proficiency for MST role
• Six months of experience demonstrating ability to perform the work or understanding of the work
• One year above high school with health care related courses such as sterile processing, nursing assistant, hospital corpsman or similar

Responsibilities

• Supports both Fayetteville and Goldsboro VA Medical Centers.
• Work 50% at Ramsey Street location and 50% at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
• Decontaminates, sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment.
• Assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments.
• Monitors wash solutions to ensure quality for decontamination.
• Sorts mismatched sets of instruments and equipment for timely distribution.
• Restocks, labels, maintains inventory and distributes instruments and equipment.
• Maintains a clean work area and follows safety and infection control standards.
