Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital is a 395-bed tertiary care academic medical center in downtown Washington, DC. The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical services.

Responsibilities include managing the full reprocessing cycle for surgical instrumentation, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, sterilization, and preparing case carts for surgery. The role requires a SPD certification and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum two years of sterile processing experience as a certified SPD Tech.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification (or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain sterile processing equipment and workflow.
• Disassemble, decontaminate, disinfect, inspect, and sterilize instruments.
• Prepare case carts with instruments and supplies for surgery.
• Mentor and train new technicians as needed.
