Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to inspect, clean, assemble, and sterilize instrument sets at Suburban Hospital. This temporary staffing role offers exposure to a world-class health system and opportunities to work with top healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities include decontamination, instrument prep, sterilizer loading, case cart preparation, and maintaining logs. Requires a High School diploma and relevant certifications; 3+ years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Certification required: CBSPD, HSPA, IAHCSMM, CRCST (CBSPD certification acceptable).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in sterile processing or equivalent.
• Competence in instrument set assembly and sterilization across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates instruments and equipment according to department procedures.
• Preps instrument sets including assembly, wrapping, labeling, and identification of items processed in SPD.
• Knows all instruments and equipment processed through SPD.
• Loads and operates sterilizers and related equipment correctly.
• Prepares case carts accurately for timely case setup.
• Stores sterile supplies and equipment properly after processing.
• Performs biological testing and sterility assurance tasks accurately.
• Maintains biological test logs and sterilization records.
• Knows load recall procedures in case of positive biological tests.
• Responds promptly to customer requests.
