Job summary

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent; 3–5 years experience in sterile processing.
  • 3 years experience as a sterile processing technician.
  • Within 365 days: obtain Certified Instrument Specialist.
  • Within 365 days: obtain Certified Registered Central Service Technician.
  • CER certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reprocesses instruments for sterilization.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of sterile and nonsterile supplies for the department.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of surgical instruments.
  • Performs quality testing as per industry standards.
  • Performs secretary/clerical functions.
  • Follows regulatory standards to ensure a safe environment and efficiency of operations.

Overview

Reprocesses instruments using high level disinfection (HLD) or sterilization techniques according to manufacturers instructions for use (IFU). Work is completed in a collaborative, team based environment. Performs biological and chemical testing on HLD and sterilization equipment. Monitors instrument and supply inventory. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining and improving departmental/unit standards of care and practice.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $21.93/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
