Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, and distributes medical equipment.
• Assists clinical staff with surgical instrumentation.
• Provides technical guidance and training to colleagues.

What You Will Do:

• Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, stores, and distributes equipment, supplies, instruments, and endoscopes used in patient care.
• Assists area clinical staff by using specialized knowledge in surgical instrumentation and procedures to prepare for surgical cases.
• Provides technical guidance to others involved in the assembly of instrumentation and preparation of case carts.
• Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.
• Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires one national certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CST) and a second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (e.g., CIS, CSIP, CFER, CST, CHMM, CHL).
• Requires 24 CE credits annually related to the CS field.
• Must maintain current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist from the NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
• May require Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per department policies.
• Requires demonstration of expert knowledge and skills necessary to function as a Tech III.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance is preferred.
• Relevant healthcare experience preferred.
