Sterile Processing Technician II - Sterile Processing - Full Time 8 Hour Evenings (Non-Exempt)(Union)

Join Keck Medicine of USC as a Sterile Processing Technician II and contribute to patient safety and care. Under supervision, you will decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instrumentation following department and manufacturer guidelines. Responsibilities include operating sterilization equipment, maintaining documentation, and assisting in training staff.

Essential Duties

• Assemble and package surgical instrument sets, ensuring functionality and cleanliness
• Disassemble, clean, and decontaminate instruments according to IFU
• Operate sterilization equipment and maintain proper documentation
• Distribute sterile instruments, maintain inventory, and ensure quality assurance
• Coordinate with departments to ensure efficient processing flow
• Troubleshoot equipment and instrument issues, and assist with loaner trays
• Prepare loads and perform sterilization processes
• Follow all SPD policies and procedures
• Prepare OR case carts and inspect sterilization packages
• Document and log processing information using Censitrac system
• Train or guide other technicians as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician program, or 3 years of relevant experience
• At least 1 year of sterile processing experience
• Basic computer skills (Windows OS)
• Ability to operate sterilization and cleaning machinery
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA, CBSPD) or Certified Surgical Tech (CST)
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire

The hourly rate ranges from $20.80 to $35.36. USC considers various factors when making employment offers, including experience, education, skills, and organizational needs.
