Responsibilities
  • Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation in accordance with established procedures and manufacturer’s Instructions for Use (IFU).
  • Operate sterile processing equipment, including washers, sterilizers, and related technologies, following departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness; identify items requiring repair or replacement.
  • Assemble instrument trays, procedure sets, and equipment according to standardized tray listings and quality standards.
  • Utilize instrument tracking systems to document processing activities and maintain traceability of reusable medical devices.
  • Maintain inventory of sterile supplies, processing consumables, and departmental stock to support operational needs.
  • Transport instruments, equipment, and supplies to support procedural and patient care areas.
  • Recognize and communicate equipment malfunctions, processing concerns, quality issues, and safety risks to appropriate personnel.
  • Comply with applicable regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and departmental standards.
  • Participate in training, competency validation, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (C.S.P.D.T.) – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. required.
  • Experience as a Central Sterile Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting 1–2 years required.
  • Working knowledge of sterile processing principles, instrumentation, sterilization methods, and infection prevention standards.
  • Proficiency in instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, and equipment handling.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Understanding of workflow prioritization and departmental operations in a healthcare environment.
Additional Job Details
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:30 am – 6:00 pm.
  • Remote Type: Onsite.
  • Work Location: 102 Endicott Street.
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.
  • Employee Type: Regular.
  • Work Shift: Day (United States of America).
  • Grade: 5.
