Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Sterile Processing Technician I is responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, preparing, and sterilizing all medical equipment, supplies, and instruments used in the hospital. They supply all divisions with sterile supplies, perform quality control checks to ensure sterility and proper functioning of equipment, and uphold the MHS Standards of Excellence while exercising strict confidentiality.

Job Functions:

1. Performs technical duties related to the department.
2. Ensures quality and safety of equipment used.
3. Maintains appropriate record keeping for the department.
4. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

• High school Diploma or GED; ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills.
• Employee must obtain CRCST or CBSPD certification within 18 months of employment to advance to Sterile Processing Technician II.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

• Ability to follow instructions.
