Job description

The Riverside University Health System - Medical Center (RUHS-MC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technicians to join our healthcare team with the Central Services and Supply Department.
The incumbents will be responsible for assembling, cleaning, and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment to ensure the highest standards of patient safety. This position requires extensive knowledge of sterile processing procedures and a commitment to maintaining a sterile environment.

Qualifications:
  1. Previous experience in sterile processing is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of sterile processing techniques and infection control standards.
  3. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT or CRCST) is a plus.
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Work Schedule:

5/40 - Monday through Friday
Night Shift - Hours: 11:00 pm to 7:30 am


Responsibilities:
  1. Inspect, test, clean, decontaminate, and sterilize returned reusable medical equipment and surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.
  2. Identify and assemble medical and surgical instrumentation and supplies using count sheets; package in accordance with sterilization technique.
  3. Assemble instruments and supplies for surgery or case/specialty cart procedures using pick lists.
  4. Create and maintain accurate equipment tracking, inventory, sterilization, and testing records and logs.
  5. Store and maintain all sterile supplies and respiratory therapy equipment.
  6. Ensure that department policies and procedures are followed.
  7. Provide vacation and temporary relief as required.

Sterile Processing Technician I:

Pay Range: $18.40 to $24.58 per hour

  1. Education: Graduation from high school, possession of a Certificate of Proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. examination.
  2. Experience: None required.
  3. Knowledge of: The more common medical equipment and instruments used in a hospital setting.
  4. Ability to: Learn aseptic and sterile techniques; follow oral and written directions.

Sterile Processing Technician II:

Pay Range: $19.41 to $25.94 per hour

  1. Education: Graduation from high school, possession of a Certificate of Proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. examination.
  2. Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the County of Riverside Sterile Processing Technician I or above.
  3. Knowledge of: Medical equipment, supplies, and instruments used in an acute care hospital setting.
  4. Ability to: Follow oral and written directions.

Other Requirements for Sterile Processing Technician II:
  • Certification from IAHCSMM, CBSPD, NBSTSA, or AST is required.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods; frequent walking and lifting up to 50 pounds.
