Summary

Based on specific assignments and in accordance with established standards collects, processes, and distributes equipment, supplies, and instruments needed for patient care to the nursing units. Responsible for processing and sterilizing all surgical instrumentation; assembles and delivers case carts for all surgical procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Meets of one of the following:
  • Active certification as a Central Service Technician or Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
  • Attainment of certification as a Central Service Technician or Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician within 18 months of hire.
  • Employment by a health care facility as a Sterile Processing Technician or Central Services Technician prior to December 28, 2020.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist training program.
  • Two years of prior experience in a central sterile processing unit.
  • Ability to identify surgical instruments.
