Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to maintain supplies, process instruments, and ensure compliance with procedures. This on-site role features a 1pm-9:30pm shift, a $5,000 retention bonus, and opportunities in a community-focused hospital.

You will manage supply custody, sterilize and store instruments, check for outdated items, and support charge compliance. Requires a high school diploma; certification within two years; multitasking and strong thinking;

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• If not certified, must complete an approved sterile processing certification program within two years of hire and keep current.
• Multitasking and advanced critical thinking skills, and the ability to maintain these characteristics when working alone.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to keep orderly records.
• Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively in writing and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a sufficient amount of supplies on patient units and distributes supplies to units when requested (including STAT requests).
• Processes instruments and supplies by cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and storing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Checks for outdated supplies, rotates supplies and assists in keeping a clean and orderly department by putting supplies away correctly.
• Checks specialty carts and follows up on patient charge compliance.
• Maintains equipment for patient care. Documents loss of equipment, instruments, and/or supplies.
