OrthoNebraska in Omaha is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the SPD department by decontaminating, inspecting, packaging and sterilizing instrument sets, ensuring on-time supply for the surgical team.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, with Sterile Processing Certification preferred and 1+ year of surgical experience. Work hours are 40 per week, Mon–Fri 2:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.; background checks and pre-employment screening are required.

Position Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician plays an integral part in the day-to-day operation of the SPD department, by delivering an efficient and flexible service, to safely decontaminate, inspect, package and autoclave medical instrument sets to provide sterile equipment for the end user, ensuring that on a day-to-day basis, the service meets operational targets and achieves the appropriate quality standards. Hours/Schedule: 40 / Mon - Fri: 2:30p - 11p

Requirements

• Education: High School Education or GED required.


• License/Certification: Sterile Processing Certification preferred.


• Experience: 1+ year of surgical experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of instrumentation preferred.


• Key attention to detail required to inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness and functionality.


• To further identify instruments in need of repair or refurbishment and ensure correct process is followed to prevent negative outcomes to the surgical team.


• Knowledge of equipment function sufficient to be able to determine operational adequacy and to distinguish between operator error and equipment malfunction.


• Knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards sufficient to be able to perform all assignments within the safety parameters

Physical Requirements

This position is classified as Light Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (66% of the time) to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.

Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
